Cliff Monlux - Founder, Managing Partner

Cliff is the Founder and Managing Partner for Ramp Equity and Ramp Catalyst Group based in Seattle, WA. Cliff Monlux has over 25 years experience starting, growing, investing, and selling market leading technology companies. His experience covers private, venture backed and public companies across a broad spectrum of software, Internet, media, and energy. Prior to Ramp was a founder of Paradigm Technology Partners, a corporate development and M&A consulting firm. Paradigm helped launch such companies as: Docusign, eNom/Demand Media(DMD), Cartavi, and PassAlong Networks. In 2006 Cliff was involved in 5 M&A and financing events valued at over $140,000,000, including the launch of Demand Media.


Prior to Paradigm, Cliff was the founder, CEO and later Chairman of CapitalStream (www.capitalstream.com) creating market leading web-based front office automation solutions for banks and finance companies. With over $50MM in venture finance its clients included: Bank of America, GE, Fleet, Merrill Lynch and others (Sold to HCL). He also was co-founder and CEO of WorkWise which developed and marketed a human resource programs and EAI technology for small/mid-enterprise companies (sold to Oralis/VerticalNet). Cliff serves as an advisor and board member for several technology companies including: Utrip, CustomerVision, Venture Grove, and Centric.

Erik Jorgensen - Managing Partner

Erik Jorgensen is currently a managing partner at Ramp Equity and Ramp Catalyst Group, based in Seattle. He is also Chairman and lead owner of Vexcel Imaging GmbH, the market leader in large-format digital cameras and software for remote sensing. Based in Graz, Austria, Vexcel was founded in 1992 and acquired from Microsoft by Erik and the management team in 2016.


Prior to that, he spent 21 years at Microsoft and served as a corporate officer of the company. He held various positions, including Corporate Vice President of Bing and MSN worldwide, leading a team of 2,000 employees across engineering, media, business and operations. MSN went from losing $500M per year to profitability while remaining the largest media property in the world in terms of audience. As CVP of Bing, he built the local and mobile search engines from scratch, as well as overseeing Bing Maps and location-based services. During the late 90’s he ran the Financial Products Group, which included MS Money and developed the first major financial website for consumers, Microsoft Investor. In 1998, Institutional Investor listed him as one the 5 most influential people in online finance. He started his career at Microsoft developing multimedia CD-ROMs for the Windows 95 platform. He also ran a company-wide big data and predictive analytics project for driving higher engagement across Microsoft’s portfolio of products. Erik graduated with a BA from Stanford University and is struggling to attain a master’s degree in golf.

 
Doug Gorder

Stephen Lawler – Managing Partner

Stephen Lawler is a tech entrepreneur, executive, inventor and builder of products used by millions of people.


He has held roles as Chief Technology Officer of Bing Maps, Vice President at Amazon and Senior Vice President of Cyanogen leading teams from startup size to multi-billion dollar businesses up to 1000 people with 100+ PHDs in size. He had a 3-year international Microsoft executive assignment in Berlin. Earlier roles included General Manager of Bing Mobile Search, MSN, Bing Maps, Virtual Earth and Mobile Internet Division. He started his career at MapInfo leading software development before and after their IPO in the early days of geospatial.


He is currently a co-owner of Vexcel Imaging GmbH, the market leader in large-format digital cameras, automated 3D, imagery machine vision and software workflow for remote sensing. Based in Graz, Austria, Vexcel was spun out and acquired from Microsoft in 2016. He is also a managing partner at Ramp Equity Group and Ramp Catalyst Group, based in Seattle. He is a tech advisor to startups like uTrip and Element Data. He is an active angel investor. He is currently co-author of 50+ patents granted or pending. He was a primary co-author of the Virtual Earth think week paper and several external publications. He was on Geospatial World advisory board. He was a co-leader in multiple successful acquisitions of public companies like Multimap and Vicinity as well as smaller private companies for Microsoft. He has been the leader of many global teams including US, Europe, Israel, India and China. He has spoken at TED and many conferences worldwide. He was on the board of Waze acquired by Google.


He is a graduate of University of New Hampshire – Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics. His interests are travel, car racing, skiing, wine, all things tech, outdoors and sports.

 
Doug Gorder

Doug Gorder

Doug Gorder is a growth strategy consultant and consulting CFO/COO for emerging tech companies, working to create and execute go-to-market strategies, build distribution channels, form or augment management teams, raise capital, and complete successful exits. He has raised nearly $75 million in venture and angel financing for a dozen companies. Doug’s 30 years of experience include managing finance, business development, and operations for large companies such as IBM, US WEST, Aldus Corporation, and numerous small companies. He has valuable and relevant experiences in mergers and acquisitions, strategy development, strategic business development, capital formation, partnership and channel formation, and international expansion, which provide Doug with firsthand knowledge, experience, skills, and relationships.


Previously, he was a co-founder and COO for Vigilos, an enterprise software company providing physical security management tools to the U.S. Navy, FBI, and various commercial and financial enterprises. He was also a co-founder of The Cobalt Group which completed an IPO in 1999 and was acquired in 2010 by ADP for $400 million. Doug holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University and an MBA in Finance and MIS from the University of Washington.

Doug Bryers is a highly versatile, entrepreneurial business executive with 20+ year’s proven expertise driving commercialization and growth for innovative new B2B ventures and business ideas that span construction, energy, e-commerce, banking, online gaming, insurance, education and enterprise software. Specializing in Executive Product Management and Marketing for technology products, Doug has managed product, marketing and executive teams to define effective go-to-market strategies, product roadmaps and growth strategies for companies such as RTIME (acquired by Sony), iCat (acquired by Intel), Intel Online Services ($300M startup inside Intel), Capitalstream (acquired by HCL), Schemalogic, Docusign, HomeTeam, Calico Energy, and American Homestay, as well as publicly-listed Vu1 Corporation, Microsoft and Blue Cross of California.


With a global outlook, he has variously held CEO, CIO and CMO roles as well as numerous VP positions in US, Australia and New Zealand companies. In those roles, Doug applies an experienced and disciplined approach to help drive analysis, define strategy, and execute on go-to-market plans. He has been involved with capital raising and board relations for most of the privately-held ventures. Doug holds a BA in Marketing from Queensland University of Technology, completed Product Management coursework from the University of Washington, and is a Pragmatic Marketing Group alumni.

Managing Partner Stan Monlux has 25 years experience founding and growing market leading technology companies. His experience covers private, venture backed and public companies across a spectrum of software, Internet, and new media. Most recently he was Vice President of Business Development for Blinkx Plc (BLNX) and Zango Inc. (prior to its acquisition by Blinkx). He has developed successful affiliate networks, negotiated search and display advertising partnerships, and worked extensively with online comparison shopping networks. While launching the innovative application Smartshopper, Stan drove the development an active daily user base in excess of 3.5 million within six months of the product’s launch. At Zango, his partnerships were critical to corporate growth that achieved over $60 million in annual revenues.


Previously Stan was the co-founder and VP of Operations at CapitalStream, creating market leading web based front offices automation solutions for banks and finance companies. With over $50M in venture finance its clients included: Bank of America, GE, Fleet, Merrill Lynch and others. He also was co-founder and EVP of WorkWise which developed and marketed a human resource program called Employee File, which is now sold by ADP. WorkWise was sold to Oralis/VerticalNet. Stan serves as and advisor to a number of technology companies including: Guppy Media, Advanced Antenna Technologies, Appnique, Utrip and Radian Labs.

 
Greg Ewing

Greg Ewing

Greg has over 18 years of experience in business growth and incubation practices, with a track record of success. Greg has strong acumen in channel development and strategic alliances, where he spends most of his efforts with Ramp portfolio companies. Greg utilizes proven methodologies and leverages firsthand experience to select and enable partnerships which maximize the impact on company value. In addition to business development, he also provides strategy and product management consulting to Ramp portfolio companies.

Greg most recently led channel and alliance initiatives for clients at Bridge Partners Consulting. Clients included large cap technology companies such as AMD, Red Hat, and Dell. Greg has also recently directed sales and channel development for Calico Energy Services, an emerging software services company in the electric utility sector. Prior to Calico, Greg spent time consulting in clean-tech focusing on regulatory affairs and strategic go-to-market initiatives for clients. Greg has also led or assisted in several business launches throughout his career. Greg started his career in technology, working primarily in the semiconductor and wireless industries in a variety of product marketing, engineering, and business development roles. Greg holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona, and an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin.

 
Greg Heuss

Greg Heuss

As a serial entrepreneur Greg has been involved with technology companies for over 20 years and has helped build some of the largest brands in the world. He got his first taste of the start-up world when Amazon actually was a start-up, in 1998, where he led the marketing and promotion efforts of new product, brand and special events. Greg later went on to help create Kiss.com and built one of the largest subscription dating sites in the world. After extraordinary growth, Kiss was sold to Match.com – an IAC holding. He later helped build and direct multiple companies to a point of merger, sale and/or public offering, resulting in nearly $200M in total M&A activity. Greg began his career promoting and marketing music and entertainment acts such as the Seattle Sonics, Garth Brooks, the Rolling Stones, Elton John to name a few.

He has a deep background in reoccurring/subscriptions based revenue models, data analytics, mobile and location based technologies and has always been on the cutting edge of consumer trends and technology. Over the course of his career he has taken the lead as CEO, Board member, and leadership roles in Marketing, Business Development and Product introduction. Greg holds a BS in Business from Washington State University.
